Your mentor will then take the results of that phone call and put them into a personalized Learning Plan (LP) — and yes, we do get a kick out of calling it an LP, thank you very much. This includes your big-picture goals and activities that you plan to work towards in your four-week session. Your LP may evolve during the session, but it’s intended to provide an initial roadmap to ensure you’re on the same page with your mentor. Mentor: Ian Barnett

We actually started from scratch! Victor and I are both music and vinyl lovers, but we always lived our passion in our private spheres. We had never worked in the music industry before and didn’t have many contacts in the music scene, to be honest. We had to build our own relations [and] convince and prove to some already well-established labels and institutions that our solution might interest them! The other option is to use a synth. Since the original 808 sound is synth-derived, we can do something similar. We want to have a pretty simple sound — think sine or triangle wave — and a drum-like envelope. If you’re not super familiar with synths, check out our free course series, Demystifying Synths.
The Cardigans’ “Lovefool”’ is one of my favorite songs of all time. It features such a fun bass line, and you can’t help but sing along to that top-line. But the lyrics are begging someone to love them back. All of Lizzo’s lyrics are about her not giving a f*#k about someone loving her back because all that matters is that she loves herself. That’s a message that resonates with me more now for sure. With overwhelmingly positive results, we’re happy to share a few testimonials of Soundfly’s Orchestration For Strings course directly from our students.
